Classes get back on track in Port Aransas

This year, first graders in Meghan Zigmond’s class told her they were thankful for paint and grout for Thanksgiving.

These young kids are thrilled to be back at school, but the reality of Hurricane Harvey is always in the background. The teachers, principals, administrators, and coaches who make school an amazing experience for kids are also dealing with personal loss and devastation from Harvey.

The Rebuild Texas Fund worked with the Port Aransas Education Foundation to rebuild playgrounds, provide laptops and laptop carts to teachers, and create a mobile science lab.

Getting kids to school and classrooms running is just one part of a community returning to normal – and Port Aransas desperately wants to get back to normal.
