Getting Texans back On the Road after Hurricane Harvey

Natalia and her family lost their family van to flooding during Hurricane Harvey in China, TX. With no way to get around, Natalia struggled to get to work and to help her kids get to school and activities.

Hurricane Harvey was an unprecedented storm in many ways, including in the number of vehicles it damaged across the impacted communities in Texas. Over one million vehicles were flooded and damaged beyond recovery, leaving working families stranded as they tried to get back to normal. We partnered with On the Road Lending to help more families access the funding they need to replace their vehicle quickly, so they can get back to work, get their kids back to school, and restore normalcy in their lives. On the Road Lending provides vehicle selection assistance and long-term financial mentoring to low-income families so that they can overcome one of the biggest challenges they face: accessing reliable transportation.

Natalia and her family now have a car they use to get everywhere they need to be – giving them a chance to get back on their feet and recover from the damage of the storm.
