Like many small towns, Refugio relies on small businesses to not only drive the local economy, but also provide a social and emotional lifeline for the community.
Life-long Refugio resident Dana Alsop had to shut down her event space and floral shop because of Harvey’s damage to the building. The whole town felt the absence of the community gathering space that brought so much joy to Refugio’s families.
With help from the Rebuild Texas Fund and LiftFund, Dana took a journey that so many entrepreneurs affected by Hurricane Harvey know all too well: she got the loan she needed to re-open her businesses and worked day and night to open her doors again. Now her Little Britt of Heaven is back to providing Refugio residents with hope and a place to celebrate their life milestones, as the community continues to heal.
The Rebuild Texas Fund has partnered with LiftFund to provide small business loans for hundreds of small business owners impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
